C63 Manual Swap with OEM Parts – The ANDERZÉN Way
Why Manual? Why Now?
After completing manual swaps on four other V8-powered Mercedes — including the M113, M119, and M273 — I couldn't stop thinking about taking on the M156. It’s one of AMG’s most iconic engines, and in my mind, it always deserved a proper manual gearbox. When I picked up this C63, it was the perfect candidate. Within a week, the swap was underway.
OEM-Style Philosophy
This build was rooted in keeping things clean, high-quality, and factory-like. Every component was OEM (new or used), or custom based on what I’d learned from previous swaps. The transmission? Mercedes 716.669 6-speed. Clutch and flywheel? LUK 11055 and DMF078. The goal was simple: make it feel like AMG built it this way from the factory.
The Challenges
This wasn’t my first rodeo, but every swap throws surprises at you. In this case:

Module Programming was the toughest challenge. With some patience, research, and the help of Mercedes Swap Shop (MSS), I got the car fully converted to Manual with no more PRND on the cluster, working reverse lights and backup camera. The modules are now in full alignment with the mechanical side of things.

Crossmember fitment was unexpectedly tricky — unlike my past swaps, it needed modification to line up correctly. I ended up using a manual crossmember from a donor C300, but I still had to notch the bolt holes for proper alignment.
The Result
Absolutely worth it. The car is now a completely different machine — incredibly engaging, brutally responsive, and tailored for true driving enthusiasts. It takes everything that made the C63 great and adds an entirely new layer of connection and control.
Advice to Fellow Builders
Just go for it. If you can think it, you can build it. These cars are just big Legos with wiring diagrams — the hardest part is getting started. With patience and the right mindset, it’s all possible.
